Are you looking for an experienced, qualified and accredited counsellor or psychotherapist providing friendly, professional and confidential support? My name is Margaret Lambert and I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist offering counselling and psychotherapy in Beckenham. I have over 10 years experience in working with a wide range of issues and personal, emotional and relationship problems.
Counselling and Psychotherapy
Both are known as 'the talking cures' and they each offer an opportunity to look
at your problems in a safe and confidential environment and explore ways to make
the changes you want with someone professionally trained to help. Counselling is
usually shorter-term work than psychotherapy and more focused on providing
answers and solutions to immediate problems that you may be struggling with. We
may, for example, set a target for a particular goal that you wish to achieve.
However, in the course of counselling work, issues sometimes emerge that you may
want to address at a deeper level or you may already know that your difficulties
are more complex or long-standing and will need some wider exploration and
attention. This is the function of psychotherapy.
Psychotherapy is a longer-term process of healing and change which offers the
opportunity to look more deeply into your life, exploring your feelings, beliefs
and thoughts, and often, their roots in your past. Together we would work to
uncover the underlying causes of your difficulties in order to gain deeper
understanding. As we work through this process I will support you to make the
positive changes in your life that arise from your discoveries.
What can therapy help with?
Therapy can help with many different problems such as:
Difficulties in relationship with others – partners, family, work colleagues
Loss of direction or low self esteem,
Stress, anxiety or depression
Bereavement or other loss
Traumatic experiences, including physical illness or injury
Or perhaps you are not clear about what is causing your distress but are experiencing an underlying sense of sadness or dissatisfaction. Whatever your current difficulty, I will offer you an opportunity to explore and clarify your thoughts and feelings, listening carefully to what you say, without judging you. You might decide that you need this support for just a few sessions, to sort out specific problems or you might decide you want to explore things more fully and deeply, and continue in therapy until you feel you have achieved this.
About Me
I gained an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent’s College. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am registered and accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics and Practice which assures you of a high standard of professional care. I have had my own extensive experience of individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I am engaged in Continuing Professional Development and have ongoing supervision and personal psychotherapy. I have experience of working with abuse, anxiety, bereavement and loss, childhood trauma, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, work-related issues, personal development, spirituality, sexuality, chronic anger, traumatic experiences and lack of direction in life.
Personal Approach
I practice integrative psychotherapy which means that I have trained in several
models of therapy. I draw from psychodynamic, humanistic and person-centred
approaches which allows me to offer the type of therapy, or combination of
therapies, that is most appropriate for the particular needs of each client. My
approach is particularly suited to people who want to understand themselves
better as well as tackle problematic issues or areas. I offer a secure and
confidential professional relationship, through which problems can be
identified, confronted and resolved in the privacy of regular, reliable
sessions. My work is confidential and respectful of ethnic origin, gender, age,
sexual orientation, religion, politics, culture or nationality
